Vultr.com is hosting a hacker.
Hours ago we wrote to Vultr about hacking coming from its servers that was attacking our server. They haven't replied.
Due to their hosting a hacker -- and their delayed response, we question whether Vultr takes security seriously.
In addition, we tried to call them. There is no phone number listed on their site.
We found a phone number for Vultr listed in NetSol's WhoIs
We called the phone number and the message says the business is: gameservers.com
This doesn't sound like Vultr.com's office.
In NetSol, you can see this address for Vultr.com (which is apparently gameservers.com):
100 Matawan Rd.
Matawan, NJ 07747
In googling that address, and cross referencing the fax number listed in NetSol WhoIs, we find this business:https://www.choopa.com/
We called Choopa at 1-866-224-6672. The customer service person was very nice and told me that Vultr.com is owned by Choopa; that Vultr.com does not offer phone number (whereas Choopa does).
The Choopa customer service person spoke to someone in her office and said that she would have someone at Vultr reply to us - via email.
While we did find this helpful, one should not have to play detective to contact a hosting company.
If you need to contact Vultr, call Choopa at 1-866-224-6672
Overall, watch out for Vultr. They may be bad news.
And, if you work for Vultr, please feel free to contact us to share your side of the events. Let's make the web and hosting a safe place.
