Walmart Is Losing Money Even with Sales Up 35%
Walmart’s e-commerce sales rose 35% in the fourth quarter, shares this weekend’s WSJ.
For the year, Walmart was up 37% shares Digital Commerce 360. (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.digitalcommerce360.com/2020/02/18/walmarts-online-sales-grow-37-in-2019-and-increase-35-for-the-fourth-quarter/amp/
Notably, Walmart’s e-commerce is losing money. It’s not profitable.
I have some indie stores tell me that they’re only making small profit on their website (this small profit may a few thousand dollars). Little do they realize they’re making more than Walmart. Most stores lose money online. If one is making a profit online, they’re in the minority and should be happy.
